Building Analysis & Design Suite

Whole-building 3D frame analysis of the complete gravity and lateral load path for light-frame (wood / cold-formed-steel / CMU) buildings.

Draw a building on a CAD-style canvas — floors, walls, beams, columns, openings, and footings across any number of levels — and the module converts it into a single 3D frame model and solves the entire load path at once. Gravity, MWFRS wind, and Component-&-Cladding wind flow through joists, studs, headers, posts, diaphragms, and shear walls down to the foundation, with per-element forces traced back to every panel. Each wall, beam, and column can be exported as a self-contained sub-model for detailed design in the component modules.

What it models

  • CAD input: levels + layers (floors / walls / beams-columns / foundation) on a snap-to-grid canvas with a PDF underlay.
  • Automatic framing: floor panels → joists, rim/header tracks, trimmers and a perforated diaphragm; walls → plates, studs, king/jack studs, cripples, headers/sills, posts at beam bearings, and shear-wall bracing; built-up wood/CFS, rolled steel, and concrete sections; fixed-base foundation stubs.
  • Loads: dead / live / roof-live / wind up-down per case; MWFRS perimeter wind by true outward-normal classification; C&C out-of-plane pressures per stud/header with Zone 4/5 corner mapping.
  • Two analysis configurations: gravity + MWFRS (foundation-fixed) and C&C (diaphragm-restrained).

Outputs

  • Base reactions and governing axial/shear/moment for every panel and member, per load case.
  • Single-panel sub-models handed off to the wall / beam / column / footing design modules with their boundary forces.
  • Interactive 3D model viewer with user-placed X/Y/Z section cuts.

Desktop-only for a reason

Some tools need more than a browser tab.

The Building Analysis & Design Suite and the Truss Design module run only in PerCode Desktop, because they're built on an interactive drawing canvas with AI-vision input — read a drawing, extract the model — that a browser can't provide. The desktop app also runs every browser module, so it's a superset of the web experience. Structural today; MEP and Civil are on the roadmap.
